When it comes to ports of games, especially ones that have been out for a while, it’s hard to predict just how well they’ll do. After all, they’re old games, and they’re just being brought to new systems with potentially one or two new features. So, is there a point in getting them? The answer lies within the game itself, and whether the developer puts time and effort into making it special. Team Meat most certainly did that for Super Meat Boy Forever on the Nintendo Switch, and now they’re reaping the rewards of it.
How so? Well, the Switch version released this week, the first time this game (of any version) has been on a Nintendo platform, and according to Team Meat themselves, the game sold immensely on day one.

Think about that, the game is revered for its hilarity and brutal difficulty, and if it did as good as the Xbox 360 debut? That’s a lot of sales, and that was just day one. Imagine how much it’s going to grow once word spreads that this version is just as good as the others, if not better.
Plus, the Switch version features some rather unique things, like a Race Mode, local co-op play, and the stable of Super Meat Boy Forever, daily challenges that ensures that you will literally be playing this game forever…or until the next major game release at the very least. Whichever comes first.
This success continues the trend of successful indie games on the Switch. For whatever reason, Nintendo gamers are buying indie games in bulk, and the developers are spreading word about it. Nintendo could be the new haven of indie games.
