Time to dust off those rusty soccer skills and dive into the Summer Overwatch Games exclusive Lúcioball matches. After about a year of waiting for the Overwatch event, we’ve finally got another shot at claiming all that Summer-Games exclusive loot. From unique player icons and skins to victory poses and highlight intros, there’s plenty of rare content that’s up for grabs – if you’re lucky enough, that is. You’ll be able to grab most content from past Summer-Games Overwatch event for a nice discount, as well as picking up some all new skins, animations, and items that make an appearance this time ‘round.
Moving on to the updates to Lúcioball, we’ve got an entirely new map set in Sydney, Australia. Though fret not, if you were unnaturally attached to and looking forward to the old Estádio das Rãs map, as it makes a glorious reappearance once again in this year’s Overwatch summer games. Aside from the maps and skins, there have been a few, rather drastic, changes to the mechanics at work behind Lúcio’s gameplay in this year’s Lúcioball games.
Lúcio’s gameplay differed vastly in Lúcioball as it did in other modes if you recall; and it seems that they will now differ from last year’s Lúcioball mode as well. The biggest of these changes has to be the new mechanics implemented to Lúcio’s Ultimate move, which previously, would allow you to quickly attract and yank the ball towards yourself; now, however, you will instead be given a timed effect that will boost your speed and jump height for its duration.
Another significant change to Lúcioball is that players can no longer boop each other, which will definitely find a grateful welcome from many players within the community, as it cuts down on a few shady and aggressive techniques used by some.
Making its debut this year is a Lúcioball tourney! You can enter both casually as well as competitively, with the competitive mode being the Copa Lúcioball League which can be found in the Arcade. Participating in 10 competitive Overwatch games will net you a spray that signifies your participation in the 2017 competitive Summer-Games, and clawing your way into the top 500 will see you rewarded with a unique spray of which there will only ever be 500 of!
What are you looking forward to most in this year’s Summer-Games Overwatch event? Let us know how you do in the events and good luck out there!
