Overwatch players have managed to discover a change on the PTR that affects the popular hero Mercy, specifically with her Resurrect ability.
On the public test realm, players are able to take advantage of an undocumented Overwatch PTR changes done by Blizzard which allows them to cancel the support character’s Resurrect ability, simply by looking away from the soul of the hero who has died. Mercy was unable to do this before, with the technique unable to be canceled by herself. The Resurrect will also cancel if the Mercy player moves away from the cast range, and the Resurrect cancel also doesn’t reset the cooldown of the ability.
As of this time, it is difficult to tell if the cancellation is a bug, or whether it was an intentional implementation by Blizzard. This is because it hasn’t been listed in the patch notes for the Overwatch PTR, though many will be hoping that it is indeed a new feature. This is because when the Resurrect couldn’t be canceled, it would potentially leave Mercy unable to get out of potentially sticky situations, which could have left her to also die in the process.
It does however make bringing a target back slightly more difficult. This is because if this Mercy PTR changes were to stick, then Mercy would be required to constantly keep her eye on the fallen foe’s soul. It seems that the good outweighs the bad in this situation mind, and could prove to be very useful should it become a permanent part of the game.
