Given that Overwatch has such an extensive roster, not to mention a huge fan base, there is bound to be constant suggestions on how each hero can be improved. Whether this is by nerfing or buffing, there are always ways in which they can be altered in order to bring balance to the game. In this particular case, which makes a change from all of the controversy surrounding Mercy, it’s in fact Genji who a handful of players feel could do with nerfing, a reflect nerfing to be specific.
In a thread started on the official forums by Widowmaker27, a discussion has been taking place regarding his reflect ability, with three suggestions on what needs to be changed, in what is referred to as “stupid ridiculous” and in need of nerfing. These propositions include either reducing how much Genji can reflect, reducing how often he can use the ability, or both at the same time.
However, many fans who have responded feel that his reflecting technique isn’t his biggest issue that needs urgent attention, but rather his hitbox, as suggested by Deadman:
The only thing I think needs to be changed about deflect is the hitbox, its insanely large and needs to be tuned down some.
This is a sentiment shared by a lot of fellow players. Whilst Genji’s reflect is a frustrating technique to have to play against, the hitbox seems to be somewhat of a more pressing matter. IDKmyname also suggests that there is another issue that Genji could do with a fix for:
The visual effects need changing too. No other effects in the entire game blatantly lie about what the ability is doing.
These are all great ideas of how Genji could be improved, and perhaps he is the next hero that Blizzard should pay some close attention to as they have in the past with many of the others.
