One of the biggest problems with MMORPGs is that there are at times a lot of things to know about in regards to minute-to-minute gameplay, and as such, the heads-up display, or HUD, is very detailed. But because of that, it can clog up the screen, making it hard for players to enjoy the game itself. For the team at Square Enix, they acknowledge that Final Fantasy XIV has this problem to an extent. So, with the upcoming 4.1 update, they’re going to give players the chance to craft the HUD the way they want it.
To help cement the changes, the HUD will be able to be changed via a HUD settings layout window. But it’s not just being able to shrink or hide certain aspects of the HUD, you’ll also be able to increase the size of certain things in order to make them more visible, that way you can never miss them. In fact, it’ll all be available via a dropdown window for each section.
You can even change how the Hotbar looks and is displayed, as you can see in the picture above. But there’s still more, this HUD change will also apply to how you see enemy information. You can alter the HUD to make sure that you know the HP, buffs, and more of your opponent in greater size, that way a single detail isn’t missed at all. In fact, you can actually separate aspects of the enemies details so that they don’t overlap one another.
And if you want to see certain things about your party members, you can adjust that too. This new HUD (extreme) layout system makes it so that you get to see exactly what you want in Final Fantasy XIV. See more, see less, be specific, be vague, it’s your call, and it’ll all happen when Patch 4.1 arrives.
