Fallout is one of the most popular franchises in the video game world today. Between Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas, and last years Fallout 4, the franchise has never been more popular. Yet, there were two Fallout games released in 2015, the other being a mobile game that put you in control of your own Vault in the Fallout Universe, and charged with protecting its inhabitants. This, was Fallout Shelter.
What was so interesting about it was that while it was definitely in the Fallout universe, the style very much wasn’t. As you control 2D characters, in a 2D world. Yes, one that has a lot of deep depth (literally), but still, not the open world that one would expect from a Fallout game.
And yet, fans really resonated with it. In fact, they downloaded it (did I mention it was free) by the thousands, and then hundreds of thousands, then millions. Soon, Bethesda had another Fallout hit on their hands.
Since then, they’re added more and more updates to not only keep the game flowing, but give you new challenges. The latest update allows your “dweller” in the vault to become secret agents. Also, there are new quests for you to do as you try and maintain the quality and happiness of your vault. Remember, you’re not just in charge of upkeep, but keeping those in your vault happy, which is a never ending process.
So, if you’re looking for a new mobile title from a franchise you know, but with a twist on things, Fallout Shelter might just be for you.
