Middle-earth: Shadow of War is fast approaching its release date, with Monolith and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment gearing fans up with a number of trailers and TV spots as hype continue to build.
The road to release hasn’t been without its bumps of controversy along the way, however. There have been a couple of pressing matters that haven’t sat well with fans, such as the initial announcement of microtransactions, as well as the controversy over the Orc-Slayer DLC not having proceeds going to the family of the deceased producer when purchased outside of certain territories. Warner Bros have addressed both of these issues to reassure fans that microtransactions are optional and that contributions will be donated regardless of the territory.
There could be yet another issue at hand, if rumors are to be believed, once again relating to the DLC that will accompany the game. Users in the Steam community are reporting that following a recent Shadow of War stream, a Q&A took place in which it was allegedly revealed that DLC Orcs are going to be single-use only. So if this is to be believed, then the Orcs will only be able to be used just the once, so if you start a new game, they will be gone forever.
There is no confirmation from the developers so far, so it’s worth taking it with a pinch of salt until there is more concrete evidence. If it turns out to be true, then it will come as a disappointment to many. One time use DLC is never going to sit well, and this will be no exception, so hopefully, we will hear back from Monolith or Warner Bros soon regarding the matter.
