As a little backstory, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night promised to become a spiritual successor to the highly acclaimed 2D Castlevania games, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night in particular. The game was introduced by the original designer Koji Igarashi himself, formerly of Konami, and went on Kickstarter on May 15, 2015. Starting with the initially requested $500.000, the project was backed by over sixty thousand, who contributed a total of $5.5 mil. Needless to say, the crowdfunding campaign was a success. Not only that, but the accumulated amount allowed the team to improve the project in many ways; for instance, attracting actors like Robbie Belgrade, who voiced Alucard in Symphony of the Night, as well as David Hayter, famous for his portrayal of Solid Snake in the Metal Gear Solid series.
So what is Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon? It’s a retro-inspired prequel to Ritual of the Night and was actually one of the Kickstarter stretch goals. It was recently released on Steam where you can grab a hold of it for a reasonable price of $9.99. It’s also available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Xbox One, Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo Switch, so no one is left out. As for Ritual of the Night, it is scheduled for a release later in 2018 on all major platforms.
